Man escapes as car with LPG system catches fire

A man escaped unharmed when his car, a Honda Accord, equipped with an LPG system, caught fire shortly after he started the engine.

The incident occurred at 7pm yesterday, January 12 at a parking lot behind Thammasat University Examination Centre in Rangsit, Pathum Thani province.

An LPG system in a car is a fuel system that allows the vehicle to run on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) alongside gasoline. It is usually fitted to achieve better gasoline mileage.

The Thakhong municipality’s radio centre received a report about the car fire and promptly coordinated with the Thakhong municipality’s fire and rescue services to investigate.

Upon arrival, emergency services found the car on fire. Firefighters worked together to extinguish the blaze, taking approximately ten minutes to bring it under control.

Unfortunately, the car was destroyed, leaving only a charred shell.

The car’s owner, 40 year old Thotsaphon Achanakul, recounted that he had driven his Honda Accord fitted with LPG to drop off his girlfriend for an examination. He had parked the vehicle at noon. Later, when he attempted to start the car in the evening, the engine started but would not accelerate.

A nearby driver alerted him that flames were visible from beneath the vehicle. Thotsaphon quickly exited the car and called for assistance, prompting others to contact the fire department, reported KhaoSod.

In related fire news, a fire broke out at Doctor Ja Animal Hospital in Pattaya, triggering a frantic rescue effort to save trapped residents and animals.

The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Centre received reports of a fire at the three-storey building in Soi Phonpraphanimit at 7.30am, January 9.

In other news, a tragic fire erupted on January 11, in a three-storey commercial building in Suphan Buri Municipality, resulting in the death of Phusit Rungronchaiporn, a 52 year old candidate for District 1 Provincial Councillor, along with his family members.
