Bangkok fire destroys 22 rooms, affects 33 in Klong Toey
A fire in Bangkok’s Klong Toey community ripped through and destroyed 22 rooms, affecting 33 residents in the community.
Emergency services worked hard to control the blaze and set up a temporary shelter. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
The incident occurred at 2.45am today, January 9, when Police Lieutenant Santi Chansathien, an investigator at the Tha Ruea Police Station, received a report of a fire at Rom Klao Pattana Mai community near Klong Toey housing flats on Narong Road, Klong Toey district, Bangkok.
Following the report, Pol. Lt. Santi coordinated with the Klong Toey fire station, deploying five firetrucks and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation to the scene.
The fire, which broke out near the Klong Toey Youth Centre, involved a two-storey wooden house divided into multiple rooms. The flames spread quickly but emergency services managed to control the situation within about 20 minutes using water hoses.
Initial assessments indicated that approximately 22 rooms were destroyed but fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities reported, reported KhaoSod.
Some 33 people were affected by the blaze. The Klong Toey district office promptly established a temporary shelter to accommodate those displaced.
Meanwhile, officials are conducting an investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire, with the Forensic Science Division involved in examining the scene for further analysis.
In related news, a devastating fire engulfed a community in the heart of Bangkok, leaving a 73 year old man trapped and injured. Eyewitnesses suspect the homeowner’s son, who was seen watching the blaze, of starting the fire. Police later detained him.
The blaze broke out on January 5, at 8.20pm in a residential area within Soi Bang Khae 14, on Bang Khae-Bang Bon Road, Bang Khae district, Bangkok. The report was received by Yanapol Polyeum, Police Lieutenant Colonel and Investigator at Phetkasem Police Station.
