Phetchaburi woman left unconscious after loan shark chair attack
Police are investigating a loan shark assault after a woman was struck by a chair and left unconscious at her som tam shop in Mueang Phetchaburi district, Phetchaburi, yesterday, March 30.
Rescue workers from Bangkok Hospital Phetchaburi and volunteers from Sawang Sanphetch Thammasathan Foundation provided first aid before taking the woman to Phra Chom Klao Hospital in Phetchaburi for treatment.
The injured woman was identified as 54 year old Thitirat, a Hua Hin resident in Prachuap Khiri Khan and the owner of the som tam shop. She suffered a cut to her lip and was disoriented when help arrived.

According to her daughter, a white Toyota sedan without licence plates pulled up outside the shop, and three men got out. She said she recognised them as an illegal moneylending group who had come to collect a 300 baht debt.
The daughter said her mother handed over 260 baht, which led to an argument. She alleged one of the men then used a wooden chair to strike her mother in the face and head, causing her to collapse, before the group drove away.

The same group had reportedly come to collect debt one to two times previously. On those occasions, she said she contacted local police to help mediate, but the officers who attended did not take further action beyond asking for information.
Police said they examined the scene and would request CCTV footage from nearby cameras. DailyNews reported that police also planned to question additional witnesses as they work to identify the suspect vehicle and track down those involved for legal action.

Elsewhere, in Phichit province, a group of aggressive loan sharks has intimidated a grilled chicken vendor. The gang, who arrived in a car, threatened her with a gun and dared her to report them to the police, claiming they did not fear legal consequences.
