Homeowner posts poison warning banner over neighbour’s dogs

A homeowner in Ban Mai subdistrict, Mueang district, Chachoengsao, faced online criticism after putting up a large banner warning he would place poison on his property over complaints about a neighbour’s dogs.

Yesterday, March 31, reporters visited the area in Ban Mai subdistrict after a large banner posted outside a house circulated online and drew criticism.

The banner warned that poison would be placed within the homeowner’s property from April 1 onwards, with the homeowner citing repeated problems involving a neighbour’s dogs.

The homeowner, identified as Nod, said the issue had continued for five to six years. He said the neighbouring house keeps German shepherds and other large dogs, with more than five in total, and that they often get out of the property.

Nod said his own animals, including geese, chickens, ducks and peacocks, had been attacked and killed. He added that his most recent loss was a Maine Coon cat, and said more than 10 of his animals had been killed in total.

He said he later placed a photo of the dead cat in front of the neighbour’s fence, along with the message “The dogs at this house are killers”, and then put up the banner threatening to use poison to protect his property.

Nod said the village head intervened and asked him to remove the banner on March 30, and that it was taken down following talks.

Two residents, 67 year old Sukanda and 55 year old Chalerm, said the dogs were aggressive. They said the animals had tried to lunge at people and had chased and attempted to bite passing motorcycles, prompting some residents to carry sticks for protection when walking past.

DailyNews reported that following the incident, residents said they learned the aggressive dogs had been moved elsewhere. The neighbouring house was closed, and no one was present to provide further clarification.

Elsewhere, police in Samut Prakan are investigating a complaint from a woman who says a neighbour’s dog repeatedly entered her property and killed ducks she was raising in Bang Khru subdistrict.

She said she raises more than 100 ducks and claimed that the neighbour’s dog, which she alleged was being kept without proper supervision, escaped and killed more than 50 of her ducks earlier this month.
