Eight injured after electric car smashes into convenience store
Eight people were injured last night, March 31, after an electric car hit a three-wheeled taxi and a noodle shop before crashing into a convenience store in Bang Lamphu, Phra Nakhon district, Bangkok.
Chana Songkhram police went to the scene with volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation. Police said eight people were injured, including two foreign nationals and six Thai people, and were taken to nearby hospitals. The convenience store, a nearby noodle shop and a three-wheeled taxi were damaged.

CCTV footage from the area reportedly shows the car driving around a roundabout before accelerating and circling it about two times. The car then lost control and hit the three-wheeled taxi, struck the noodle shop by the pavement and continued into the convenience store.
Chalermchai, the noodle shop owner, said his mother and his girlfriend feared an accident as the car sped around the roundabout, so they went into the convenience store, where the vehicle then crashed into it.

The three-wheeled taxi driver said that if the car had not hit his vehicle first, there could have been more injuries because the impact helped reduce the car’s speed to some extent. He said people on the three-wheeler and those nearby were also injured.
Khaosod reported that the driver was a 57 year old woman, who told police she lost control of the car. She gave the statement before being taken to a hospital.
Police said the cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed. Officers plan further questioning and will review CCTV footage from the scene to determine the cause.

Damage was reported to the convenience store, the noodle shop and the three-wheeled taxi, along with injuries to those affected. Police said the car’s insurance company has already inspected the site and stated it will cover all damages.
Police added that medical costs for the injured under the compulsory insurance scheme are covered up to 80,000 baht per person, not including voluntary insurance.
Elsewhere, a car suddenly accelerated into a supermarket in the Pho Phra Ya market, Mueang district, Suphan Buri province, causing significant damage and injuring two people. The driver, a woman accompanied by three friends, was questioned by police.
