Nude photos at Hat Yai Buddha statue spark outrage

A shocking nude photo scandal has emerged in Hat Yai, with a group of men posting explicit outdoor shots at sacred sites. The photos, which were shared on the popular social media platform X, have caused outrage among locals.

The group, known as OutdoorHDY, staged their daring photoshoots in public spaces across Hat Yai Municipality, Songkhla province.

One of the most controversial photos was taken in front of the revered Phra Phuttha Mongkhon Maharat Buddha statue, located at the Khao Kho Hong viewpoint. This site holds great significance for the local community.

The images, showing the men in the nude, have sparked widespread criticism for their disrespectful and inappropriate nature. The Buddha statue, in the posture of subduing relatives, is an iconic symbol in Hat Yai and is deeply respected by residents.

The scandal did not stop there. Reports from locals have revealed that the men took their explicit photos at three separate locations: outside a clothing store behind Greenway Market on Soi 3/1, Sriphuwanak; at Chonthara Park near the Saengthong Christian Church on Thamanunwithi Road; and at the Hat Yai City Viewpoint, which is also situated on Khao Kho Hong.

At each of these spots, the men stripped down for their controversial photoshoots, which they proudly posted online for all to see.

The backlash was immediate, with many residents condemning the group’s actions. The act of taking naked photos at such respected locations was deemed not only distasteful but also an outright violation of public decency, reported Channel 3 Plus.

In response to the growing public outcry, the Kohong police have launched an investigation. Police Colonel Aphichat Suwannako, Superintendent of Kohong Police Station, confirmed that the authorities were already on the case.

“We have reviewed the CCTV footage from the affected areas and are working to identify those involved,” said Pol. Col. Aphichat.

The police are confident that they will soon be able to track down the culprits and hold them accountable.

As for the charges, the police are still reviewing the case, but they have promised that the law will take its course. The community is waiting eagerly to see what legal action will be taken against these men who have caused such outrage.
