Foodpanda to bow out of Thailand next month

Foodpanda announced it will cease operations in Thailand, with the delivery giant confirming that its services will end on May 23. The shocking decision marks the end of an era for the popular food delivery platform, which has served millions of Thai customers since its launch.
In a statement released today, April 23, via their official fan page, Foodpanda Thailand expressed regret over the termination of its services, citing that current market conditions no longer align with the company’s long-term strategy.
The message acknowledged the years of dedication to delivering happiness to customers and thanked the loyal support from merchants, partners, and riders who helped drive its past success.
“Foodpanda Thailand would like to announce the termination of the foodpanda application service, effective from May 23, 2025,” the post read.
“Throughout the years, we have been very proud to drive the business of delivering happiness through every order to every customer in Thailand.
“We are honoured to have served our beloved customers and to have received great support from all the merchants, partners, and riders who have been a part of our journey.”

Despite the heartfelt farewell, the company pointed out that the current market environment simply wasn’t compatible with Foodpanda’s long-term vision.
The announcement comes as a surprise to many in the Thai market, as Foodpanda has been a prominent player in the delivery industry, often at the forefront of local promotions and convenience.
“We are deeply saddened that our journey has come to an end, and we would like to thank all our customers for their continued trust in Foodpanda.”
The decision to exit Thailand follows a series of challenging market conditions that have made it difficult for Foodpanda to maintain its foothold. The competitive food delivery market, rising operational costs, and shifting consumer demands have likely played a role in this strategic withdrawal.
For now, Foodpanda customers in Thailand have until May 23 to make their final orders before the app is fully shut down, reported Matichon.
The company’s departure leaves a gap in the market, with rivals like GrabFood and LINE MAN likely to absorb its customer base. As the industry adapts to these changes, many will be left wondering what’s next for Thailand’s food delivery scene.
