At the trade fair, professionals engage in lively discussions and showcase the latest in luxury watches and eyewear, highlighting innovation and style.

Hong Kong and Thailand have enjoyed robust bilateral trade relations on a range of products and services over the years. Adding to Hong Kong’s business advantages, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) organises world-class exhibitions in Hong Kong to create business opportunities for corporations around the world.

Vian Cheung, Director, Thailand and South Asia, HKTDC announced here today that four lifestyle fairs will be held in the coming September to November in Hong Kong, which will offer ideal platforms for traders and suppliers from Thailand to expand their businesses into new markets. These fairs are:

  • HKTDC Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair (3-7 September)
  • Salon de TIME (3-7 September)
  • CENTRESTAGE (4-7 September)
  • HKTDC Hong Kong International Optical Fair (6-8 November)

‘Last year, we staged some 40 major events, attracting over 22,000 exhibitors and over 430,000 physical buyers and participants from Hong Kong, the mainland and around the world.’ Ms Vian Cheung said, ‘Since the resumption of international travel in February 2023, we have seen global exhibitors and buyers returning to Hong Kong in droves, reaffirming Hong Kong’s status as a leading business and investment hub.’ She looked forward to welcoming more corporations in Thailand to explore business opportunities and tap into global markets through HKTDC exhibitions. She also highly encouraged all buyers, distributors and retailers from Thailand to come to Hong Kong for sourcing.

Thailand is Hong Kong’s 10th largest trading partner. In 2023, the total trade value between the two places reached USD 19.2 billion. Thailand was Hong Kong’s 12th major export market with a total export value of USD 8.3 billion and the 9th largest import source with an import value of USD 10.9 billion.

A fusion of futuristic fashion and luxury brand exhibitions. Models dazzle on the runway while industry professionals connect at a bustling trade fair.

‘Established in 2009, Radatime is an e-tailer in Indonesia, selling medium-priced fashion watches and sports watches. The Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair and Salon de TIME allow us to source all kinds of watches in one go. We have found 10-15 potential suppliers from Hong Kong and Mainland China at the twin fairs in 2023. We will place orders with one to two new suppliers for fashion watches and sports watches and the size of each order is around US$10,000. The newly launched Scan2Match function provides a very useful tool for us to keep the history of exhibitors that we are interested in following up.’

‘I’ve met with 3 brands. 2 from Hong Kong and 1 from Korea. The ready-to-wear products and designs are quite good. I will get the distributors to follow up with the brands directly. If they’re able to close the deal, I can then maybe offer a space for them in the malls. I’ve made a lot of good connections at CENTRESTAGE. Surprisingly when I am here, I’m able to meet a lot of potential suppliers from Thailand and find ways to collaborate with them such as pop-up stores etc. I’ve had 7 business matching meetings and met with 4 potential brands. Three brands are based in Hong Kong and 1 brand is from Korea.’

‘Vision Ventures is a holding company in Thailand which has five subsidiaries. Two subsidiaries are wholesalers and the other three operate optical stores in our country. Since our business scope covers every customer segment, I am here to look for a wide range of eyewear from budget items to high-end and luxury models as well as new technologies. I have identified three potential suppliers after attending the business matching meetings arranged through the Click2Match platform. I am interested in buying new items such as a smart AI try-on system for eyewear, and optical pouches and cases made from sustainable materials. The minimum order quantity for pouches and cases is 1,000 pieces. I have collected their catalogues and I’ll discuss them with our purchasing team after the fair.’
