Woman seeks justice over husband’s misuse of funds and infidelity

A 55 year old woman appealed for justice at the Ubon Ratchathani provincial complaints centre, claiming her husband, a village headman, has been involved with three mistresses and used money from selling their land to build a house for one of them.

Yesterday, April 21, she was accompanied by lawyer Kritsada Lohitdee, known as Lawyer Nobi, to submit a formal request for justice to the Ubon Ratchathani governor. The complaint was received by Thanarat Supapan, head of the provincial office and director of the provincial complaints centre.

The woman, referred to as A, reported her situation with her husband, Si, whom she had been living with since 2012 and legally married in 2023. She noticed a change in his behaviour last year, as he frequently returned home late, citing work obligations.

By October 2024, A discovered Si’s infidelity, leading to confrontations where she was physically assaulted and threatened with a gun to prevent interference with his affairs.

Further investigations revealed Si had two additional mistresses, prompting frequent arguments and resulting in more threats and violence. A could not tolerate Si using proceeds from their land sales to fund a house for one of his mistresses.

Seeking resolution, she enlisted Lawyer Nobi to help present her case to the governor, requesting disciplinary action against Si and expressing her intention to divorce, reported KhaoSod.

In response, Thanarat Supapan accepted the complaint and planned to contact the district chief of Kud Khaopun to arrange discussions for a separation agreement. A committee will also be established to investigate the disciplinary issues, which could lead to Si’s dismissal from his position if the allegations are substantiated.

Meanwhile, a domestic dispute turned deadly after a woman found her missing husband with his mistress at a resort in Bangkok’s Min Buri district on April 20. The confrontation escalated into violence, resulting in the mistress’s death. The wife later surrendered to police.
