Intoxicated driver crashes into Pattaya power line pit

A heavily intoxicated driver crashed his vehicle into an underground power line construction pit in Pattaya but miraculously escaped without injury.

The accident occurred at 5.46am yesterday, September 18, on Chaloem Phra Kiat Road 3, located in the Nong Prue subdistrict of Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province.

Pattaya police and emergency responders promptly arrived at the scene, accompanied by local news reporters. They discovered a black Toyota Yaris that had lost control and plunged into a pit designated for an underground power line project. The driver, identified only as 34 year old Boy, was reportedly in a heavily intoxicated and incoherent state according to police accounts.

“The driver was fortunate to escape without any injuries.”

Upon inspection, the vehicle showed significant damage from the fall, yet Boy remained unharmed. The construction site, however, experienced minor damage to the public power line conduit due to the impact.

Rescue teams swiftly worked to remove the car from the pit. Following the extraction, Boy was taken to the local police station, where he is expected to face potential legal charges related to the incident.

Police will conduct further investigations into the circumstances leading up to the crash and assess the full extent of the damage caused to the construction site, reported Pattaya News.

In related news, officers from Mueang Pattaya Police Station detained a foreign man high on cannabis after he stole a taxi and crashed the vehicle into an electric pole. Police were alerted to the car accident on Thappraya Road, connected to Jomtien Sai Song Road, at around 4am on September 12.
