Boozed-up Belgian tourist smashes up store in drunken rampage

A boozed-up Belgian tourist turned a Pattaya 7-Eleven into his personal wine-tasting warzone but ended up footing a hefty bill after turning the aisle into a scene straight out of Bottleship Down.

Chaos erupted at around 4am on April 27 when a drunken foreigner wreaked havoc inside a convenience store in Pattaya’s Bang Lamung district, smashing at least ten wine bottles and leaving staff stunned.

The man, later identified as 25 year old Belgian national Mr Mustafa, stormed into the shop on Soi Na Kluea 16 and bizarrely began pouring soda water over his own head in front of the cashier.

He then strutted over to a shelf of expensive wine and, with a sweep of his hand, sent bottle after bottle crashing to the floor, shattering glass and soaking the store in red and white chaos.

A video of the incident was posted on TikTok by user @Mrbochkarev, who wrote in Russian: “Free visa, tourists, Pattaya is crazy.” The clip quickly went viral.

Channel 3 Plus News reported that shocked staff called the police, and officers from Bang Lamung Police Station arrived to detain the unruly tourist, dragging him off to the station to sober up.

Tourist Police confirmed Mr Mustafa was charged with being drunk and disorderly. However, after sleeping it off, he agreed to pay 35,000 baht in compensation to the shop. The store opted not to press charges, with the incident settled through police mediation.

Locals said the mess took hours to clean up and described the ordeal as “totally uncalled for.”

No wine was spared but at least the hangover came with a price tag.

Drunken outbursts by unruly foreigners in Pattaya is nothing new. Last month an American tourist disgraced himself as the attention-seeking man lay in the middle of a busy road, stopping traffic and annoying locals.
