A merchant has donned a warrior outfit in a bid to promote some good luck ahead of tomorrow’s national lottery draw.

At Wat Salalee, Bang Phai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nonthaburi Province, residents yesterday flocked to the local temple to pray for fortune, seek career advice, and crack an egg for lucky numbers. The lottery good luck faithful have returned multiple times, purchasing items from the shrine to curry favour with the deity. The temple preserves these offerings to perform merit-making in various provinces.

A local woman received the number 063 from cracking the egg, while 67 year old Nid, got the number 623. Both bought lottery tickets in hopes of winning a fortune, echoing past instances where temple-goers had prayed to the deity, purchased lottery tickets, and won the first prize.

Upon inquiry, 40 year old Engk Sriboonruang, who sells lottery tickets and is popularly referred to as the warrior or the soldier, revealed that he has been selling lottery tickets at Wat Salalee for several years. He believes his warrior outfit attracts attention and increases sales by bringing in lottery luck. He bought his current hat during a trip to Ayutthaya Province. For the current lottery draw, the number 19 is the most popular among buyers, reported Sanook.
