Nonthaburi teen arrested after stealing bicycle from elderly woman

Police in Nonthaburi arrested a 15 year old boy on February 7 after CCTV footage linked him to the theft of a bicycle belonging to an elderly woman in Pak Kret district.

Officers from Pak Kret Police Station tracked down the suspect, identified as Ong‑art, at an abandoned warehouse in Moo 4, Pak Kret. Police seized one bicycle as evidence and charged the teenager with theft.

The arrest followed a complaint filed by a 75 year old victim on February 3. She told police that her bicycle had been stolen from the parking lot in Bang Phut on February 2.

Investigators reviewed CCTV footage recorded at around 4.15pm on the day of the incident and reportedly saw the suspect, dressed in a black shirt and black trousers, stealing the bicycle and fleeing the scene.

Police later located Ong-art and took him into custody. He allegedly admitted to the theft and guided officers to the abandoned warehouse where the bicycle had been hidden. He also confessed to repainting it in an attempt to conceal its original appearance.

During questioning, the teenager told police he took the bicycle after noticing it had been left unlocked and rode away immediately.

The suspect also claimed he had stolen multiple bicycles in the past, which he distributed among older acquaintances so each could keep one for personal use. He added that the bicycles were usually repainted after being taken to avoid recognition.

Investigators further revealed that staff from the Ratchawadee Protection and Development Centre for Boys with Disabilities had previously filed a report on April 18 last year, 2025, stating that Ong‑art had run away from the facility.

Authorities believe he had been involved in multiple bicycle thefts since fleeing the centre. Police suspect the teenager has stolen more than five bicycles, although no victims had filed complaints before this case.

Ong‑art has now been taken to Pak Kret Police Station for legal proceedings, reported CH8.

In similar news, previously in September last year, a man was caught sleeping next to a stolen motorcycle in Pattaya after it was taken from a repair shop, prompting an investigation by local police.
