Motorcyclist dies after crash on new coastal bridge in Chon Buri
A motorcyclist tragically lost his life yesterday after his big bike skidded off a sharp curve on a new coastal bridge in Chon Buri, crashing into a lamppost. The incident occurred at 5.30pm yesterday, August 18.
Police Lieutenant Thitirattapoom Jaipinta, Deputy Inspector of Samed Police Station in Chon Buri, received a report about the accident near the descent of the new coastal bridge heading towards Chon Buri Provincial Administrative Organisation in Samet, Mueang district, Chonburi. Medical personnel from Chon Buri Hospital and rescue workers from Thammarat Rescue Foundation were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, emergency services discovered a black GPX 200 motorcycle with the registration number 3 Kaw 1453 Chon Buri overturned in the middle of the road. Approximately 200 metres away lay the body of 40 year old Manop, a resident of Nakhon Ratchasima province. He had severe injuries to his cheekbone and under his right ribcage.
Witnesses stated that they were driving a pickup truck when Manop overtook them at high speed on the left. One witness said that he lost control at the curve, causing both his body and the motorcycle to collide violently with the central island’s curb and the lamppost.
“I want to urge riders of big bikes or those who drive powerful vehicles to ease off the speed, especially on roads that may not be in good condition, as they can easily lead to accidents.”
Following the preliminary investigation, officials transported the deceased’s body to the hospital for further examination. The investigation will continue in accordance with legal procedures before the family is allowed to reclaim the body for religious rites, reported KhaoSod.
