A man assaulted his father in Udon Thani after being denied 300 baht for drugs, prompting his sister to demand legal action, stating she no longer wants him as her brother.

The 30 year old perpetrator, Panya, admitted to attacking his father due to a combination of alcohol and cannabis use. He became infuriated when his father refused to give him 300 baht, leading him to assault his father with a knife and throw a charcoal stove at him. Police immediately detained Panya and charged him with assault, proceeding with legal action.

Panya’s 54 year old father, Angkul, tearfully recounted the incident to reporters. He explained that his son had been drinking and taking cannabis all day. When Panya asked for money and was refused, he turned to his sister for 300 baht and requested to borrow a motorcycle. Angkul refused, stating that Panya did not work and only drank all day, and the motorcycle was needed for transporting his grandchildren.

“We argued back and forth until he grabbed a knife and attacked me. He punched and kicked me repeatedly, even threw a charcoal stove at me, tearing my ear. I want the police to lock him up for good.”

The sister confirmed her brother’s violent behaviour, noting that he often drank and used drugs. She said when he was denied money to buy methamphetamine, he became enraged and started destroying items in the house, reported KhaoSod.

“He asked for money to buy drugs, and when no one gave him any, he went on a rampage, injuring our father and breaking things in the house. I’m furious to have such a terrible brother. I want the police to take him away for good.”
