According to investigations, the attack was carried out by Somrak, Phon’s grandson. The suspect allegedly confronted his cousin, 22 year old Nutthawut, with a sword over a false accusation of unpaid gambling debts. Phon attempted to intervene but was brutally attacked by Somrak, who then calmly left the scene.

Somrak is suspected of being under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident. Nutthawut claimed that Somrak frequently used drugs and was hallucinating.

Another relative, 19 year old Nam, recounted hearing Somrak demand money from Phon, despite Phon having no debts. During the attack, Somrak threatened the family.

“I’ve given you 10 days, or I’ll kill the entire family.”

Nam further stated that Somrak has had a history of drug abuse since childhood, recently serving time in prison. He has reportedly killed animals, claiming it was to send their spirits to heaven, stating that life is full of suffering, reported KhaoSod.

The police are actively searching for Somrak in likely hideouts and have urged the public to report sightings, warning that he is considered dangerous.

In similar news, a 38 year old man, reportedly under the influence of drugs, fatally stabbed his 67 year old mother before attacking locals in Samut Prakan. Police apprehended him on February 6.

The attack occurred in a residential area of Soi Direk, within Soi Suk Sawat 70, Phra Pradaeng district. Officers and rescue volunteers arrived to find Somporn Pansa-nga with fatal neck and facial wounds. Despite CPR attempts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, Suphachai Pheama, fled after attacking his mother with a cutter knife, also pursuing his son and nearby residents. Locals helped police subdue him before he was taken to Phra Pradaeng Police Station, avoiding mob retaliation.
