Chai Nat family demands justice for teen murdered by boyfriend

The family of an 18 year old student murdered by her boyfriend, a foster son of a local politician in Chai Nat province, held a cremation ceremony yesterday, April 9 at Wat Rat Bamrung.

The student, known by her nickname “Focus,” a promising student recently accepted into the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Science at Kasetsart University, was found dead in a paddy field in Mueang district, Chai Nat, on the evening of April 3. Her boyfriend, identified as 19 year old Frank, allegedly committed the crime.

Friends of Focus expressed their shock and desire for justice, hoping for the death penalty for the perpetrator.

They voiced concerns over the apparent silence surrounding the case and urged the public to share the story to seek justice for their friend.

Jiranan, Focus’s 33 year old mother, revealed that before the cremation, she and her family went to the Hankha Police Station to inquire about the case with Police Colonel Thanakrit Ruayaree, amid concerns that the suspect might be granted bail and potentially harm the family further. She mentioned having opposed bail in court the previous day.

“The family of the accused has not reached out to us for an apology or any assistance. We are ready to meet them in court to fight for Focus until the end.

“We have not received any compensation, monetary or otherwise, and we do not wish to accept it, even if it is in the millions. It cannot replace what we have lost. We want the death penalty.”

Payao, Focus’s father, insisted that his daughter was innocent and did not deserve the accusations made by the suspect. He expressed concern about facing someone with power and asked the media to support their quest for justice, reported KhaoSod.

“The foster father of the accused, a former member of the Provincial Council, has not shown up since the incident. As a person with social standing, he should have participated from the beginning instead of avoiding it.”

Payao added that the family is determined to fight in their way and urged those involved to have a conscience.
