2 dead, 4 injured in Nakhon Pathom canal car accident

Six young men on probation volunteered for community service at a temple but faced tragedy when their car veered off the road into a canal, resulting in two fatalities and four injuries. The incident occurred at 2pm yesterday, April 9, in Nakhon Pathom province.
Police Colonel Kamphon Champasri from Mueang Nakhon Pathom District Police Station was notified of the car accident involving a Honda sedan with registration number 4540 Nakhon Pathom.
Emergency services, including doctors from Nakhon Pathom Central Hospital and rescue teams, were immediately dispatched to the scene in the Rong Chik canal, Nong Pak Long subdistrict.
Upon arrival, the vehicle was found submerged upside down in the canal, with its wheels pointing skyward. The bodies of two men were discovered on the bank: 40 year old Manoj, from Sam Khwai Phueak subdistrict, and 34 year old Phatthanaphong, from Phrong Maduea subdistrict, both with broken necks.
Four other men, who were passengers, sustained injuries. Police retrieved the car from the canal, noting significant damage, including a large hole in the front windshield and a collapsed roof.
Survivors recounted that all six men were under the supervision of the Nakhon Pathom Probation Office. They had completed community service at Wat Waan En, approximately 3 kilometres from the accident site.
Manoj, the deceased driver, was navigating along the irrigation canal road when the car lost control on a curve.
The vehicle skidded off the road and into the canal. The four men seated in the back managed to escape the car and broke the windows to rescue Manoj and Phatthanaphong from the front seats, reported KhaoSod.
Despite attempts to revive them through CPR, both were unresponsive. It is believed that Manoj was unfamiliar with the route.
As the families and relatives of the deceased arrived at the scene, they were overwhelmed with grief.
Police proceeded with legal procedures and transported the bodies to the hospital before releasing them to the families for religious ceremonies.
