Retired Thai official with Covid-19 dies after returning to Thailand

A 66 year old retired Thai official diagnosed with Covid-19 died yesterday following his return to Thailand from the United Kingdom, according to the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration. Thailand’s total number of Covid-19 related deaths is now at 60.

The man flew into Thailand from the United Kingdom on October 19 and tested positive the next day while at a quarantine facility in Chon Buri. The man, who also had diabetes and high blood pressure, died yesterday, according to the CCSA.

The CCSA also reports 5 new Covid-19 detected in quarantine and 3 cases were detected at the Myanmar border, raising the total number of cases to 3,818 with 3,639 recoveries. 119 people are currently receiving medical treatment for the coronavirus.

  • A 68 year old Swiss man tested positive for Covid-19. He arrived to Thailand on October 22 and tested positive in is second test while at an alternative state quarantine facility in Bangkok. He was asymptomatic and was admitted to a private hospital.
  • A 36 year old Indian man travelling from India tested positive for Covid-19. He arrived to Thailand on October 23 and tested positive 12 days later while at an alternative quarantine facility in Bangkok. He was asymptomatic and admitted to a private hospital.
  • A 56 year old Thai woman travelling from Saudi Arabia tested positive for Covid-19. She arrived on October 23 and was on the same flight as 2 previously confirmed cases. She tested positive 11 days later while at a state quarantine facility in Bangkok. She was also asymptomatic.
  • A 41 year old Thai woman travelling from Ukraine tested positive for Covid-19. She arrived on October 31 and tested 4 days later while at a state quarantine facility in Chon Buri. She was admitted to a state hospital in Chon Buri.
  • A 36 year old Thai woman travelling from the Netherlands tested positive for Covid-19. She arrived on October 31 and tested positive 4 days later while at a state quarantine facility in Bangkok. She reported cough symptoms.
  • 3 Myanmar truck drivers, ages 28, 29 and 41, tested positive for Covid-19 after crossing the border into Thailand. They did not have symptoms. The drivers were sent back to Myanmar to be treated.
