10 men beat German tourist with helmets in Pattaya attack (video)

A German tourist was savagely attacked by a gang of ten men, who used helmets to viciously beat him in front of horrified onlookers.

The horrific scene unfolded on Pattaya Beach Road, Chon Buri, leaving the city’s reputation in tatters, with Pattaya’s Deputy Superintendent stepping in to make swift arrests after the violent assault.

At approximately 4.06am today, March 25, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Unit in Pattaya received a call reporting a physical assault with injuries on Pattaya Beach Road, Nongprue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district.

Rescue workers, along with Pattaya City Police, rushed to the scene, where a crowd of stunned Thai and foreign tourists had gathered to witness the chaos.

The victim, identified as 40 year old German tourist David Adrian Lelonek, was found badly beaten, with abrasions across his body, a swollen face, and a bloody cut on his left eyebrow. After receiving emergency first aid, he was rushed to the hospital for further treatment.

Through an interpreter, Lelonek explained to the police that he had no memory of what triggered the attack.

He described how he was suddenly ambushed by over 10 men, leaving him terrified and desperate.

In a bid to escape, he quickly grabbed his motorcycle and fled, seeking help from local villagers before the police and rescue workers arrived.

The scene was captured on camera by a bystander, revealing the disturbing violence.

The gang of attackers, including one in a motorcycle taxi uniform, relentlessly punched, kicked, and stomped on the tourist, with one of them using a helmet as a weapon to strike him repeatedly.

Despite the pleas of onlookers, the attackers continued their brutal assault until the victim lay motionless on the ground.

After viewing the footage, Police Lieutenant Colonel Arun Sapanon, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation at Pattaya City Police Station, immediately led an investigation into the attack.

Within hours, three of the perpetrators, 18 year old Ta, 25 year old Benz, and 27 year old Sek, were arrested not far from the scene.

The three men confessed to the attack, stating they saw the motorcycle taxi driver and assumed the foreigner had done something wrong.

They claimed they acted out of a desire to defend their fellow Thai, but acknowledged that their response was far too violent.

Pol. Lt. Col. Arun expressed his dismay at the incident, emphasising that such acts of violence, particularly towards tourists, damage Pattaya’s image as a tourist destination.

He urged the public to always report crimes to the police rather than taking matters into their own hands.

The injured tourist remains under medical care, and the police are continuing their efforts to track down the remaining assailants, reported Daily News.
