A fire at a candle manufacturing factory in Ratchaburi remains out of control, echoing a similar major incident a decade ago.

Yesterday, February 12, Police Lieutenant Colonel Praman Plathong from Mueang Ratchaburi Police Station received a report of a fire at the factory located in Mueang district.

Fire engines were dispatched to assist, and upon arrival, flames were seen erupting from the factory, which stores raw materials for candle production.

Firefighters initially attempted to extinguish the fire with water, but the presence of candle wax exacerbated the flames.

Assistance was then requested from the Ratchaburi Provincial Administration Organisation, the Royal Thai Army’s Engineer Department, and nearby provinces for foam to combat the blaze.

Despite these efforts, the fire remains out of control and has spread to four nearby buildings, reported KhaoSod.

The suspected cause is an electrical short circuit, although this will require confirmation from forensic investigators.

The factory experienced a significant fire 10 years ago, which also resulted in extensive damage and difficulty in extinguishing the flames, leading to the destruction of several buildings at the time.

Yesterday, an explosion and ensuing fire engulfed a six-storey commercial building, claiming two lives in Samut Sakhon. The fire, initially reported at 5am yesterday, was tackled by firefighters from various local organisations who managed to contain it to a limited area.

Police Lieutenant Phuwarit Palatja from Bang Nam Chuet Subdistrict Police Station received reports of the fire at a six-storey commercial building at Moo 3, Bang Nam Chuet subdistrict, Mueang district, Samut Sakhon province.

Firefighters from the Bang Nam Chuet subdistrict and nearby areas dispatched approximately 20 fire trucks to the scene.

The building housed a company dealing in the wholesale of audio and video recording media. Despite efforts, the fire spread to the adjacent Patanachai Diesel shop.

Locals reported hearing two explosions before seeing smoke billowing from the building, prompting them to alert the emergency services.
