Thai film ‘Grandma’ shortlisted for 97th Academy Awards
A significant milestone for Thai cinema unfolded yesterday, December 18 as Thai film studio GDH announced that How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies has been shortlisted for the 97th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.
The film, directed by Pat Boonnitipat and penned by screenwriter Ped Thodsapon, stands out among 85 international submissions, marking a first for Thailand.
The shortlist now includes 15 films, and only five will proceed to the final nominations, to be unveiled on January 17, 2025. The eagerly awaited announcement of the winners is set for March 2.
In a statement, the studio extended heartfelt congratulations to the creative team behind the film, highlighting the efforts of producers Jira Maligool and Vanridee Pongsittisak, along with lead actors Usha Seamkhum and Putthipong Assaratanakul.
