3 Thai girls fake forest blackout after resort stay with man
Three Thai girls, initially reported missing, confessed to going to a resort with a man they met on a dating app after lying to their parents that they fainted in an abandoned house in a deep forest for a night.
Three families filed missing persons reports to Thamenchai Police Station officers in the Isaan province of Buriram after three girls, 10 year old Yuyee, 12 year old Thip, and 15 year old Rot, went missing from their homes on Tuesday, December 17. Fortunately, the three girls returned home themselves yesterday, December 18.
The three girls told their parents that a 24 year old Thai man named Thanapon took them somewhere they could not recognise. They said they all fainted and remained unconscious until the next day when they woke up in an abandoned house in the middle of the forest.
The parents were not convinced by the girls’ claims, as none of them had the mosquito bites expected from a long stay in the forest. Moreover, it seemed impossible that all of them would lose consciousness at the same time.
After being pressured, one of the girls, 15 year old Rot, revealed the truth to the families. She explained that Thip, arranged a meeting with Thanapon after they talked on a dating app. Thanapon then picked Thip up outside their school but Rot and Yuyee were also invited.
All of them went with Thanapon to a resort in the Ku Mueang district of Buriram province. They were in the room together for about five minutes when Thanapon asked Thip and Yuyee to wait in the car.
Suspect denies sex
Rot said Thanapon then approched her and admitted that she had sex with the man. Thanapon then took them home at about 10am.
However, the girls saw that locals were in chaos searching for them and were worried that they would be scolded by parents. So, they asked Thanapon to send them to the home of Rot’s father, which is located in another community.
Thanapon was summoned to Thamenchai Police Station for questioning. He admitted to taking all the girls to the resort. He initially came to pick up Thip with motorcycle and later went back home to get his hatchback to travel with all three girls.
Thanapon insisted that he did not have sex with any of them. Thanapon claimed that he only touched one of the girls. Police sent the three girls to the hospital for a thorough health check to see traces of sexual assault.
If any of them were proven to have been assaulted, Thanapon could face a maximum penalty of imprisonment from one to ten years, a fine from 20,000 to 200,000 baht, or both, for sexually assaulting a minor under 13 years old, according to Section 279 of the Criminal Law.
