Thai expat wins 96 million baht lottery in South Korea

A Thai national residing in South Korea has won a substantial lottery prize, amounting to nearly 100 million baht.

The announcement, shared on the Facebook page แม่ อสม.เกาหลี Chanel – เพจใหม่ revealed that the prize totals 4,066,375,179 Koren won (approximately 96 million baht). The winner returned to Thailand yesterday, January 21. Following the post, many people left congratulatory comments, and it was confirmed that the winner resides in Paju, Gyeonggi province, South Korea, and has paid the necessary taxes.

The post highlighted that the Thai winner is considered the luckiest of the year, securing a major lottery prize worth over 4 billion won. It is noted that the prize is shared between two people working at the same location, with each receiving approximately 45 million baht. The hashtags accompanying the post included wishes for a safe return home, reported KhaoSod.

In other lottery news, a former police officer sharing a lottery ticket with a restaurant owner led to an unexpected windfall as the pair won the first prize in the Thai government lottery, securing 12 million baht. The joyous occasion took place at a restaurant by the Mekong River in Nakhon Phanom province, where the lucky ticket was shared.

In another Thai lottery story, residents celebrated with enthusiasm at a renowned temple in Chon Buri after winning lottery prizes with numbers linked to their visit to Luang Pho Yai. Many gathered at the temple to offer thanks following the lottery draw on January 17, where the winning numbers included 807779, three-digit numbers 699 and 961, and two-digit number 23.
