French-born rapper cites ChatGPT in credit dispute with Thai director

A French-born rapper based in South Korea and Thai film director disputed over the credit of a music video after the artist listed herself as the director, citing ChatGPT conversations as part of her explanation.

The disagreement surfaced after K-hip hop artist Mouna Loriane De Gallois Kone Kaga, known professionally as Moon, released the music video for her song “Fresh Girls Stand Up” on March 27.

In the credits, Moon named herself as the director, prompting the Thai director Napussorn “Bouquet” Somlit to publicly challenge the credit.

According to BrandThink, Bouquet’s name appeared in the credits as production manager, but she said she was the director of the music video. Bouquet shared details of the issue on X and Facebook accounts, after which Moon later updated the credits to include Bouquet as a co-director.

Bouquet and some Thai fans said the change did not address the complaint, with Bouquet stating she had been contacted to work as the director, not a co-director.

Moon later posted a clarification on Instagram via @moonprivzte, saying she was involved in the creative process, including proposing the concept, drafting the storyboard and finding locations for the shoot.

Moon also shared a conversation she said she had with ChatGPT, presenting it as evidence of her role and responsibilities as director of the music video.

Bouquet said on social media that the budget for the music video was 80,000 baht. She added that she was not hired or paid to produce the video, and said she took on the project out of personal passion because Moon was a friend of her friend.

Bouquet also said she paid for the video editor and arranged for the production to use a professional ARRI Alexa camera, despite describing the project as working within a limited budget.

The Thai director told followers she plans to take legal action against the rapper and said she is looking for an experienced lawyer to handle the case.
