Teen arrested for fatal stabbing of police officer in Samut Prakan
Police arrested a teenager in Samut Prakan yesterday, February 1, after an immigration police officer was fatally stabbed following a roadside confrontation near a BTS station.
The victim, Police Lance Corporal Sutthiwut Horklang, a squad leader with Udon Thani Immigration Police, was stabbed at a U-turn close to the BTS Chang Erawan station in Pak Nam subdistrict, Mueang district, Samut Prakan province. He later died from his injuries.
Following the stabbing, police launched an investigation and reviewed CCTV footage along the suspected escape route. Officers were able to locate him at his residence in Phra Pradaeng district.
At about 4.30pm yesterday, Samut Prakan Provincial Police Commander Major General Phumin Singhasut led officers from Phra Pradaeng Police Station to arrest the suspect, identified as 17 year old Watcharapanu.
Police also seized a grey and black Honda motorcycle bearing Bangkok registration plates, which investigators believe was involved in the incident.

During questioning, Watcharapanu confessed to carrying out the stabbing. He told police the incident began after the deceased allegedly cut in front of him while driving and caused a collision with his motorcycle. An argument followed, during which the teenager used a knife to stab the officer before fleeing the scene.
The suspect claimed he acted out of anger and said he did not intend to cause the victim’s death. He also alleged that the deceased had been drunk at the time of the confrontation.
After the arrest, police escorted the suspect to recover the knife used in the attack. Investigators said the weapon had been discarded in Soi Wat Bang Phueng near a local grocery shop, where officers later searched for evidence.
Major General Phumin said initial findings indicated the confrontation indeed stemmed from a traffic collision between the officer’s car and the suspect’s motorcycle. The argument escalated, leading the suspect to grab a knife kept at the front of his motorcycle and stab the officer, resulting in his death.
The investigation remains ongoing at this time, reported Khaosod.
