Thai man fatally stabs boyfriend while under influence of drugs

A Thai man, reportedly high on drugs, fatally stabbed his boyfriend at a rented home in Ratchaburi province on Wednesday, March 11, following a heated argument.

Officers from Bang Pong Police Station were called to the rented room at about 5.30pm after neighbours reported seeing a 24 year old man man, Surasak Pongsub, run out of the room carrying a bloodstained knife.

Police found Surasak’s boyfriend, 43 year old Nikorn Saenhan, lying outside a bathroom with at least six stab wounds to his back. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested Surasak about two kilometres from the rented room. He was taken to the police station for questioning, but he was unable to give coherent information at the time because he was under the influence of drugs.

When questioned later, Surasak told police he and Nikorn argued frequently. On the day of the incident, he became angry and lost control before attacking his boyfriend. He claimed he threw the knife used in the attack into a river near the accommodation.

Nikorn’s relatives told police the couple had lived together in the rented room for about eight months. They said Nikorn worked and covered household expenses, while Surasak was unemployed and addicted to drugs.

Relatives said they believed Nikorn had refused to give Surasak the money he had asked for, which may have led to the murder.

Nikorn’s sister also told police Surasak was jealous, saying she had learned from her brother that Surasak believed Nikorn would leave him for another man, so he refused to give Surasak money.

In a separate case linked to jealousy, a Thai man in Ubon Ratchathani tricked his boyfriend into going for a drive before fatally shooting him inside a vehicle.

Police said the suspect drove the boyfriend, who was in critical condition, to the victim’s family home before taking him to the hospital. Doctors were unable to save the man’s life.
