Phuket: 16 year old boy found dead in Thalang pond

A 16 year old boy who vanished while enjoying a swim was found dead in Baan Maruan Pond.

Warut Butleb, a bright third-year high school student at Rajaprajanugroh School 36 in Kamala, yesterday, December 5, disappeared while swimming with his friend Ngae, a 10 year old from Myanmar. A seven-hour search for the teenage boy ended in a devastating discovery.

The alarm sounded at 3.25pm when local hero Wanatjarong Chokthianwit leapt into action, rescuing Ngae from the waters. Si Sunthon Municipality rescue workers swiftly transported Ngae to Thalang Hospital, ensuring his safety.

The frantic search for Warut intensified, drawing the attention of Thalang Police Deputy Superintendent Police Lieutenant Colonel Patthi Yodkwan and Sirsoonthorn Mayor Chalermpol Kerdsup, reported Phuket News.

At 9.05 pm, the lifeless body of Warut was recovered, marking the end of a desperate quest. Pol. Lt. Col. Yuttaphon Watthaseth of the Thalang Police received the grim news. Warut’s mother, grief-stricken, identified his body once it was brought ashore. Forensic doctors from Vachira Phuket Hospital examined the scene, laying the groundwork for a thorough investigation.
