Overpass tragedy: Thai motorcyclist’s birthday ends in fatal fall

In a tragic twist of fate, a 42 year old man died on his birthday after his motorcycle veered off a 10-metre overpass in Nonthaburi, near Bangkok. The rider, Seksan (surname withheld), was reported to have overtaken a taxi at high speed before the catastrophe.
At 2am, today, March 21, Chaiyapruek Police Station officers in Nonthaburi, alongside Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers, hurried to the scene on the Chaiyapruek-Ratchaphruek Road overpass in Bang Phlap subdistrict. They discovered Seksan’s lifeless body lying face down in a garden area below.
On the overpass above, a green Kawasaki motorcycle without a number plate leaned against the bridge barrier. Initial investigations suggested that the collision began at the edge of the road, with a metal post and reflective sign dislodged—marking the initial impact point.
Tragically, Seksan’s identity card revealed he was born on March 21, 1983, coinciding with the accident date.

Pisuth (surname withheld), a 59 year old taxi driver, recounted the moment he realised something was wrong. His vehicle had run over a helmet, forcing him to a stop.
He noticed the motorcycle leaning against the roadside barrier but could not see anyone nearby. After searching the area, he glanced down to see a man lying motionless below.
Pisuth recalled that the motorcycle had overtaken him at a high speed shortly before the crash. Initial police assessments suggest Seksan lost control while speeding, causing his bike to crash into the bridge barrier.
The impact with the metal signpost projected him over the edge, leading to a fatal fall.

KhaoSod reported that Police plan to examine CCTV footage for further insights.
The Ruamkatanyu Foundation has transferred the dead man’s body to the Institute of Forensic Science for an autopsy.
Investigators continue probing this heartbreaking incident, piecing together the series of events leading to Seksan’s unfortunate demise.
This tragic event leaves many pondering the risks of high-speed travel, hoping to raise awareness and prevent future accidents of this nature.
