A tragic accident occurred yesterday involving a motorcycle carrying three people that collided with a Toyota Fortuner on Highway 331 in Phanom Sarakham district, Chachoengsao province. The crash resulted in the death of a married couple, while another person sustained serious injuries.

Police Lieutenant Pattana Pinich from the Nong Nae Police Station received a report about the accident and proceeded to the scene with emergency services from the Phanom Sarakham Rescue Unit. The crash site, located in front of Moo 7, Nong Nae subdistrict, revealed three people lying severely injured on the road’s central reservation.

Emergency personnel provided initial aid, transporting one injured man to Phanom Sarakham Hospital and a critically injured woman to Plaeng Yao Hospital. The motorcycle’s driver, 36 year old Manas Saengmas, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota Fortuner, referred to as Si (alias), and his wife, Jai (alias), both from Buriram province, shared their shock over the incident. They had been driving from Pattaya towards Buriram in the right lane yesterday, March 16, when the motorcycle, carrying three passengers, suddenly appeared and cut across their path.

The impact caused the motorcycle to crash into the vehicle’s windshield before landing on the central reservation. Following the collision, the couple stopped to assist the victims, along with locals and the elders of the injured people, who promptly contacted the Phanom Sarakham Rescue Unit and Nong Nae police.

According to the elders, the motorcycle driver and the female passenger were a married couple working at a watermelon farm, while the other male passenger was a new employee. They had been returning from a market in Nong Nae and attempted to cross the central reservation instead of using the designated U-turn, leading to the accident.

Footage from the vehicle’s dashcam confirmed the sequence of events as described by the Fortuner occupants, showing the motorcycle cutting across the road and colliding with the vehicle, reported KhaoSod.

Sadly, the injured woman later succumbed to her injuries at Plaeng Yao Hospital, while the new employee remains in critical condition at Phanom Sarakham Hospital. Police are continuing to investigate the incident to proceed with legal action.
