A 30 year old man has been apprehended in Buriram’s Satuek district after being caught stealing two lightweight concrete blocks worth a total of 34 baht.

The incident, captured on CCTV, occurred at 9pm on Sunday, February 16. Following the arrest, police discovered two methamphetamine tablets in his motorcycle, and a urine test showed positive results for drugs.

Upon questioning at the Satuek Police Station, the man, Phet Siwa, admitted to taking the two blocks without permission and expressed his desire to apologise to the homeowner.

He explained his intentions to return the blocks if desired and stated that he only used them as a base for placing items.

The homeowner, after reviewing the CCTV footage, initially posted the video on social media to raise awareness, despite the low value of the items stolen.

Phet Siwa’s response on Facebook included a remorseful note.

“I may have been thoughtless. I apologise. If the owner is unwilling, I will return them. Two blocks aren’t enough to build a house for my parents.”

His comments provoked dissatisfaction from the homeowner, who authorised representatives to file a complaint with the police, reported KhaoSod.

The police have charged Phet Siwa with nighttime theft using a vehicle and drug use. These charges carry potential penalties of imprisonment and fines as they are classified as criminal offences.
