Police in Lampang province successfully apprehended two Hmong men involved in transporting a large quantity of methamphetamine amounting to six million pills.
Residents assisted in the capture after a high-speed chase. The suspects revealed they were paid 500,000 baht (US$14,680) to drive the vehicle, and police are seeking three more people connected to the operation.
Yesterday, February 10, at 11am, a press conference was held at the Lampang Provincial Police Office. Present were Police Lieutenant General Kritthaphol Yisakorn, Deputy Governor Krisana Phinit, Police Major General Phumipanya Nawatkulpisut, along with other local officials.
They announced the seizure of 30 bags containing six million methamphetamine pills from a white Isuzu pickup truck. The vehicle, registered in Chon Buri, was driven by 24 year old Apisit and accompanied by 24 year old Song.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Kritthaphol explained that on February 5, a tip-off was received about a planned drug transport from Phop Phra district, Tak province.
Police monitored the situation and spotted the white Isuzu on the Tern-Tak highway the following morning.

Attempts to stop the vehicle at Tern Burin intersection were unsuccessful, leading to a pursuit that ended near a local garage in Tern Buri. The suspects fled into nearby woods but were captured with the help of locals by evening.
During questioning, Apisit confessed to being the driver, while Song was a passenger. They had been hired to transport the drugs from Phu Sang district, Phayao province, to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province.
Apisit disclosed they had already received 10,000 baht (US$293) as part of their payment. The investigation revealed the operation involved five people, reported KhaoSod.
Besides the two arrested, the remaining suspects include a car driver and two motorcyclists who were tasked with route reconnaissance. They were collectively paid 2 million baht (US$58,690), with the car driver receiving 500,000 baht (US$14,670). Police have gathered enough evidence to issue arrest warrants for the remaining suspects.
