Driver arrested after evading fuel payment and causing accident in Nakhon Pathom

A 27 year old driver was arrested after evading fuel payment and subsequently causing a traffic accident in Nakhon Chai Si district, Nakhon Pathom province, yesterday, February 17. Wiriya admitted to using methamphetamine just before the incident.
Police Colonel Phakphon Suchon, along with Deputy Superintendent Kla Sombatpiboon, led the operation to apprehend Wiriya at a red-light intersection on Phetkasem Road, heading towards Bangkok.
Before his arrest, Wiriya had driven a six-wheel truck to refuel at a station on the same road without paying the 2,920 baht (US$86) bill.
A petrol station employee pursued Wiriya on a motorcycle and sought assistance from the Highway Police Thammasala unit.
The police were alerted and later spotted the truck on Borommaratchachonnani Road in Song Khanong subdistrict, Sam Phran district. Upon inspection, Wiriya denied the allegations but was taken to the Nakhon Chai Si police station for further questioning.

At the station, Wiriya requested to use the restroom but instead fled, commandeering a vehicle to make his escape. Nakhon Chai Si police, coordinated with highway police, pursued him.
At another red-light intersection, Wiriya ran a red light, colliding with a civilian’s vehicle, which resulted in injuries. Wiriya’s truck was rendered immobile, leading to his capture and subsequent medical treatment at Nakhon Chai Si Hospital.
During interrogation, Wiriya confessed to buying and using two methamphetamine pills for 100 baht (US$3) from a friend. Subsequent drug testing confirmed the presence of narcotics, reported KhaoSod.
He now faces charges of theft using a vehicle, operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs, consuming a category 1 narcotic (methamphetamine), and escaping custody. Wiriya has been sent to Nakhon Chai Si Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Last year, a Thai man evaded paying a 500-baht bill at a petrol station by fleeing in his black sedan, dragging the fuel nozzle and hose along Hathairat Road in Bangkok.
