Family mourns daughter killed in tragic Phetchaburi bike accident
A tragic accident has left a family in mourning as they prepare to hold a funeral for a 22-year-old woman, who was the mainstay of her household, killed in a bike accident.
The young woman, Suphattra, lost her life in a heartbreaking incident when she fell from a big bike and was run over by a truck during a trip to Kaeng Krachan in Phetchaburi province. Her mother, Ing-on, tearfully recounted the events leading up to the tragedy.
On a recent evening, family and friends gathered at a house in Nong Phan Tha, So Phisai district, Bueng Kan province, the home of Suphattra’s parents. The 48 year old Ing-on, was surrounded by relatives and neighbours offering their condolences and support. She explained that she was initially unsure of her daughter’s fate until the big bike driver called her with the devastating news.
Ing-on said through tears that she couldn’t believe it at first.
“When I found out it was true, I was heartbroken.”
Suphattra had moved to Bangkok to work with her 30 year old cousin, Sudaporn, who works at a well-known department store after finishing high school in her hometown. Ing-on described her daughter as the family’s backbone, sending money home to support her and her grandmother.
Tawan, Suphattra’s 54 year old uncle, shared that he had helped raise her since she was a child. He provided more details about the accident, explaining that Suphattra and her male friend had set out for Kaeng Krachan on a Sunday, their day off. The journey took a tragic turn when the bike lost control, causing Suphattra to fall onto the road, where she was subsequently run over by a truck, said Tawan.
“She was like a daughter to me. I am deeply saddened by what happened.”
Funeral expenses
In the aftermath, the family has tasked Sudaporn with coordinating with Khao Yoi Police Station in Phetchaburi to handle the necessary procedures to bring Suphattra’s body home from Khao Yoi Hospital for the funeral rites. Tawan also expressed the family’s financial difficulties and appealed for assistance in covering the funeral expenses and any possible insurance claims.
“We don’t blame anyone. It was an accident, and we accept that. We just hope for some financial assistance to cover the funeral costs and other expenses.”
The family is now focusing on arranging the funeral and seeking ways to cope with their loss. They hope that the responsible parties will assist them in navigating the insurance claims to alleviate some of the financial burdens from this tragic incident, reported Khaosod.
