Phetchaburi homeowner shoots intruder after repeated break-ins
A homeowner in Phetchaburi shot an intruder today, December 4, after burglars had targeted the house multiple times before the latest incident.
Police identified the injured suspect as 18 years old Arun, from Ban Laem district in Phetchaburi province. Officers found him with gunshot wounds to his right shoulder, arm, and knee. Emergency responders transported him to Phra Chomklao Hospital after a good Samaritan provided initial first aid at the scene.
Police Lieutenant Sathira Woraboonmeeprasert, Deputy Inquiry Officer at Mueang Phetchaburi Police Station, received the report and notified Police Colonel Chokchai Nielsen, the station supervisor.
Officers rushed to the scene at a single-storey home in Moo 1, Bang Chan subdistrict, Mueang Phetchaburi district.
The homeowner, 65 year old Santi Silabut, who lives with his wife, Areerat Saengdee, told police the property, located in a field with no street lighting, had been broken into three or four times in the past. He had installed CCTV cameras for his and his wife’s safety.
However, they noticed the camera stopped working on the day of the incident. Suspicious, Santi and his wife travelled from their other house in Nong Ya Plong district to inspect the house. When they arrived, they spotted Arun inside the home. Santi then used his firearm and fired at the suspect.

KhaoSod reported that police found Arun’s motorcycle parked roughly 10 metres from the house. They noted that the isolated location and poor road conditions made the investigation difficult. The narrow dirt track, with no lighting, caused a police patrol car to slide off the road. Officers called in a tow truck to recover the vehicle. The supervisor’s car also struggled to reach the scene.
In related news, a gas thief was caught by quick-thinking Pattaya residents after returning to the scene, with CCTV footage helping to stop the late-night heist.
