Caught in the act: Khon Kaen cops bust hotel prostitution racket

Khon Kaen police smashed an alleged prostitution ring operating brazenly in a well-known hotel, in a sensational sting operation. A Khon Kaen police spokesperson called the operation a “masterstroke in undercover policing,” cornering the suspect right in the heart of the city’s hospitality scene.
The drama unfolded in the early hours of this morning, February 21, as Khon Kaen’s Provincial Investigation Police swooped into action.
Their target: Room 8 of a central hotel in Khon Kaen Municipality. Their quarry: a 39 year old woman, Naree (surname withheld), caught in the act after negotiations over an illicit rendezvous on social media.
The operation was led by Police Colonel Phonsak Ngamdee, Chief of Investigation at Khon Kaen Provincial Police. Acting on a hot tip-off about online solicitation, the team discovered an X account under the guise “Accepting work in Khon Kaen,” advertising sexual services in plain sight.
The smart money was on a sting. Officers posed as potential clients, liaising with Naree via the LINE messaging app. They agreed on a fee of 1,500 baht and set the stage for the showdown.
As Naree stepped into the room and pocketed the arranged sum, undercover officers revealed their true identity. A quick search uncovered damning evidence: a mobile phone and cash notes central to the sting.

Pol. Col. Ngamdee explained his team had received complaints of ongoing prostitution via an online platform and acted swiftly.
“Our officers effectively executed the operation to bring justice.”
Naree now faces charges of acting as an intermediary in solicitation, using online advertisements to draw in would-be customers.
Following the arrest, she was taken to the Khon Kaen City Police Station, where the legal process will proceed full throttle, reported KhaoSod.

In similar news, police in Buriram province arrested a mother and her 17 year old daughter for allegedly engaging in online prostitution. The police set up a sting operation to apprehend the pair, despite the daughter claiming her actions were consensual.
On Tuesday, February 18, the investigative team from Buriram Provincial Police was alerted to online posts advertising sexual services via an application.
