A man has been detained for the sexual assault of underage boys and for distributing videos of the incidents in a paid online chat group in Khon Kaen.

The man, 31 year old Warit, was apprehended at a residence in Ban Hat district during a raid conducted by the Cyber Crime Investigation Division 3 (CCID3) yesterday, February 12. The operation was part of a broader initiative that also encompassed Maha Sarakham, Yasothon, Roi Et, and Nakhon Ratchasima.

These provinces fall under the jurisdiction of CCID3, which also targets illegal online lottery operations and human trafficking networks.

Police Lieutenant General Chatpanthakan Klaiklueng, commander of CCID3, stated that Warit’s arrest followed information received about a chatroom on the LINE application. This chatroom charged a 200 baht entry fee for members to view pornographic images of underage boys being abused.

Warit reportedly confessed to the police that he lured young boys, many under the age of 13, to his residence, where he sexually assaulted them, filmed the acts, and uploaded them to the chatroom.

He faces charges including sexual assault, human trafficking, procuring boys for sex, and producing and distributing child pornography.

CCID3 extended its operations and detained four more people, one each in Nakhon Ratchasima, Yasothon, Roi Et, and Maha Sarakham, for allegedly managing an illegal website selling tickets for the Laos government lottery.

Evidence confiscated included four mobile phones, several ATM cards, computers, and promotional material for the unlawful online service.

Additionally, in Khon Kaen, two people were apprehended on suspicion of selling online lottery tickets without a licence in Phon and Mueang districts. Police have frozen the suspects’ bank accounts, containing nearly 300,000 baht, reported Bangkok Post.

It remains unclear if these suspects were linked to the illegal lottery operations.

The CCID also arrested a 25 year old man named Weerachon at a luxury condominium in downtown Khon Kaen. He was charged with illegal possession of a 9mm handgun and nine bullets. According to police, the suspect had posted images on social media brandishing the weapon and taking it to entertainment venues.
