Buriram man wins 6 million baht lottery with nephew’s help

A 56 year old local government official from Buriram province has become an overnight millionaire after his infant nephew picked a winning lottery ticket.
Kanthar Sirisamran, from Mueang subdistrict in Krasang district, Surin province, claimed a massive 6 million baht prize following the lottery draw yesterday, April 1.
The lucky number, 669687, was announced by the Government Lottery Office, sparking celebrations in Kanthar’s community. As word spread, locals flocked to his home to join in the festivities, including a traditional wrist-tying ceremony to honour his good fortune.
Kanthar, who serves as a member of the local government, revealed that the winning ticket was chosen in a rather unconventional way.
“I was at a summer ordination ceremony at a local temple on March 30. While there, I bought some lottery tickets from a vendor. My one year old nephew picked out one ticket, while I selected another. To my surprise, the ticket my nephew chose turned out to be the winning one!”
While Kanthar’s immediate joy is evident, he has big plans for the windfall.
“I plan to donate a portion of the prize to charity. The rest will go towards clearing my debts, and I intend to save what’s left for my descendants’ education. This win will help secure a better future for them.”
The news has captivated locals, with many expressing amazement at the stroke of luck that saw a baby play a key role in changing their relative’s life, reported KhaoSod.
As Kanthar begins to make plans for the prize, it’s clear that this win is not just about personal gain but about helping others and securing his family’s future.
In similar news, devotees flocked to Wat Khao Chong Lom in Si Racha district, Chon Buri, to pay respects to the towering 9.9-metre statue of Thao Wessuwan Thonglon, especially after a recent lottery win attributed to the deity’s blessing.
This is the fourth time this year that a first-prize winner has linked their good fortune to prayers at the temple.
On March 30, a woman who won 6 million baht in the March 16 lottery returned to express her gratitude to the deity, further cementing the temple’s reputation for bringing luck to its visitors.
