Boy injured by fishing spear gun on way to school

An 11 year old student encountered a serious accident on his way to school. While cycling, he found a fishing spear gun and accidentally discharged it, causing a dart to embed in his neck. The injured boy managed to return home for help.
Patsakon Changthongmadan Kong shared the incident on Facebook, urging parents to keep dangerous items away from children.
The post, accompanied by images, described the boy’s critical condition and highlighted the risks such items pose to children. The local rescue team, Sawan Metta Lamtamachai, provided initial assistance at the hospital.
Somchit, the boy’s 65 year old grandmother and resident of Non Peep village in Mueang Yang district, Nakhon Ratchasima, recounted the event.
The boy is a fifth-grade student living with his grandmother while his parents work in Bangkok.

According to Somchit, the boy had left home early in the morning to attend school. His grandmother noticed a commotion near the village entrance shortly after.
Upon investigation, she discovered her grandson injured. The boy explained that he found the red fishing spear gun on a roadside embankment about 800 metres from school. While playing with it, the spear accidentally fired, striking him in the neck.

Despite the pain, the boy cycled back to the village to seek help, alerting locals and the Non Udom Subdistrict Administrative Organisation’s emergency service. They transported him to Mueang Yang Hospital.
The hospital coordinated with Sawan Metta Lamtamachai to remove the metal dart before transferring the boy to Maharaj Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital for advanced treatment by specialised doctors, reported KhaoSod.
