Man fatally shot while fishing in Ang Thong province

A man was fatally shot while fishing with friends outside a house in Ang Thong province. The incident occurred today, February 23 at 3am when gunmen approached the group, asked for the victim by name, and then opened fire.
The victim fell into a canal and drowned, and the attackers returned to fire additional shots.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Wiwat Pawong, deputy inspector of Samko Police Station, was alerted to the shooting at a canal in front of a house in the Obtom subdistrict.
Police, detectives from Samko station and Ang Thong province, medical personnel from Samko Hospital, and Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers attended the scene.
At the scene, on a canal-side road, law enforcement found four unidentified bullet casings and a trail of blood. A fishing rod was left on the canal bank, and a pair of sandals was floating nearby.
Ten metres from the initial spot, three more unidentified bullet casings were discovered at the house entrance.

Divers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation took approximately 10 minutes to locate the body of 31 year old Pholawat, also known as Ball.
He was in a blue short-sleeved t-shirt and black jeans and had sustained a gunshot wound through his left side and chest. Two methamphetamine tablets were found in a chest pouch.
Present at the scene, 28 year old Jeeranon, stated they were fishing when two assailants on a motorcycle asked who was named Ball. Upon drawing a gun, the group scattered. Jeeranon added that the victim was shot and fell into the canal.
The assailants briefly left but returned to shoot three more rounds at a house where Ball’s friends were hiding before fleeing once again. By the time the victim’s friends have returned, Ball had already drowned, reported KhaoSod.
The victim’s 61 year old mother, Somjit, did not know of any conflicts and had been out of contact with her son for some time. A victim’s friend, 24 year old Por suspects an unresolved prior conflict as the motive.
Police have identified two suspects, seen riding a Yamaha Fino motorcycle. They are actively pursuing them for investigation and legal proceedings.
