Tuk tuk driver faints, crashes into taxi in Bangkok
A tuk tuk driver lost consciousness at the wheel, causing his vehicle to swerve off the road and collide with a taxi. Emergency responders quickly administered CPR after detecting a weak pulse and then transported him to the hospital for further treatment.
The incident occurred today, August 8, at around 6.40am. The Poh Teck Tung Foundation received a call from the public through their emergency hotline, reporting that a man had fainted while driving a tuk tuk on Santiphap Road near the July 22 Roundabout in the Pom Prap Sattru Phai district of Bangkok. Police from the Plubplachai 2 Patrol and the Rapid Mobile Unit of the Royal Project were immediately notified.
Upon arrival at the scene, officials found a man slumped over the driver’s seat, unconscious. They quickly removed him from the vehicle to administer first aid. Initial checks revealed a weak pulse, prompting the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) to revive him.
After successfully restoring his vital signs, the man was identified as Sanong, a 57 year old tuk tuk driver. He was then transferred to a hospital for closer medical attention.
Eyewitnesses reported that as Sanong was driving his tuk tuk, the vehicle inexplicably veered off course, heading towards the shoulder of the road, where it crashed into the back of a parked taxi bearing Bangkok registration plates. Bystanders rushed to assist and found him unconscious behind the wheel.
Sanong is currently under close medical supervision as doctors monitor his condition.
