Phuket tuk tuk driver accuses Russian man of refusing to pay for service
A Phuket tuk tuk driver accused a foreign passenger of refusing to pay and then claiming the driver overcharged him at 3,000 baht.
The driver, who operates in Patong in Kathu district, shared a video on social media showing him confronting the passenger in a hotel lobby. He said he may start collecting fares in advance to prevent passengers from leaving without paying. In the video, the driver heard saying…
“He (the foreign passenger) said okay before the service but refused to pay me upon arrival.”
The driver later told ThaiRath that the passenger had agreed to pay 300 baht for the trip from Bangla Road to his hotel. He added that the man had also said he would give a 200 baht tip.

However, when they arrived at the hotel, the passenger allegedly refused to pay and told hotel staff the driver had tried to charge him 3,000 baht. In the video, the man is seen asking hotel workers to intervene and check CCTV footage, which he said would show he was the victim.
It remains unclear how the dispute ended, and the driver did not say whether he eventually received the fare.
A similar transport fare dispute was reported in Pattaya in January, when an app-based motorcycle taxi rider accused two Russian women of refusing to pay an additional charge.

The rider said in a video on Facebook that a foreign customer had booked a trip through an app showing a fare of 31 baht. When he arrived, he found the passenger wanted to travel with another woman, so he said he asked to charge double and claimed they agreed.
He later said the women paid only 31 baht. After the video spread online, some social media users supported the rider, arguing that the motorcycle was designed for one passenger, while others criticised him for carrying two passengers in breach of traffic rules.
