Mo Chit 2 gets flashy facelift ahead of Songkran holiday rush
Travellers heading out of Bangkok this Songkran are in for a big surprise—Mo Chit 2 just got a multimillion-baht makeover, and it’s looking slicker than ever.
Chatchawan Prommoratham, Acting President of Transport Company Limited (BorKorSor), announced a major renovation to the Bangkok Bus Terminal (Chatuchak), popularly known as Mo Chit 2, aimed at improving passenger convenience, safety, and service speed. The upgrade comes just in time for Songkran, Thailand’s busiest travel season, when millions hit the road to visit family or escape the capital’s chaos.
“We want to modernise public transport and make travel easier for everyone,” Chatchawan said, revealing that the newly completed upgrades focus on the terminal’s ticketing system.
A total of 107 new ticket counters are now operational—38 located on the first floor and 69 on the third floor. These counters serve both Transport Co. buses and private affiliates running domestic and cross-border services. The revamp is part of a broader initiative to raise the bar on Thai public transport infrastructure.
Each booth now features clear glass barriers for security and hygiene, plus 50-inch LED display screens that show company names, route information, service standards, and fares in real time. The goal is to boost transparency, reduce confusion, and speed up the ticketing process—especially crucial during peak periods like Songkran.
“The new layout is more organised and efficient,” Chatchawan said. “We want every traveller to feel confident and safe using our services.”
Mo Chit 2, often criticised in the past for outdated facilities and long queues, now boasts a cleaner, more professional appearance that aligns with modern expectations. The company is also pushing to integrate further digital innovations in the future, including online booking systems and real-time bus tracking, reported The Pattaya News.
Transport Co. urge the public to plan ahead during the holiday period and arrive early to avoid delays.
With its sleek new look, Mo Chit 2 is positioning itself as more than just a bus station—it’s becoming a hub for seamless travel across Thailand and beyond.
