Food fight: Delivery rider and motorcyclist clash in petrol station
A heated altercation occurred between a food delivery rider and a motorcyclist, leading to a physical fight, causing both men to sustain facial injuries. CCTV footage captured the incident at a petrol station on Sri Sothorn New Road in Chachoengsao province yesterday.
The altercation began when a delivery rider, riding his motorcycle against traffic, exited the petrol station. At the same moment, another man in a red shirt, accompanied by his daughter, approximately 10 to 12 years old, was entering the station.
The two men exchanged glances before the man in the red shirt stopped his motorcycle and began verbally confronting the rider. The confrontation quickly escalated, leading the man in the red shirt to get off his motorcycle and start punching the rider, even as other vehicles passed by.
After a brief exchange of blows, employees from the petrol station, motorcycle taxi drivers, and a postal worker who witnessed the incident intervened to separate the two men. Despite their efforts, the man in the red shirt attempted to approach the rider again, ultimately kicking him off his motorcycle. Eventually, bystanders managed to separate them, and both men went their separate ways.
Saichon Sappakhun, a 43 year old local, who witnessed the incident and provided CCTV footage, explained that he was initially busy making a key for a customer when he heard the commotion.
“I turned around and saw the fight happening across the street.”
Witnesses reported that the man in the red shirt had blood flowing near his eye, with his eye nearly swollen shut, while the rider had a bleeding head wound, reported KhaoSod.
Saichon speculated that the man in the red shirt, fearing for his daughter’s safety, might have shouted something at the rider for riding against traffic, which led to the altercation.
“I think the man in the red shirt was worried about his daughter getting hit by the rider.”
He urged everyone to remain calm and considerate while using the roads, especially given the hot weather and tough economic conditions.
“We need to be more considerate of each other. Luckily, this incident wasn’t too severe, and both men went their separate ways after being separated by the bystanders.”
