A tragic incident unfolded in Pathum Thani province where a teenager was shot dead after arranging to buy a watch via Facebook. The young man met with the sellers in a secluded alley, only to be ambushed and fatally shot. Police are now in a race to apprehend the culprits.

Police Lieutenant Waranchai Sookying of Khlong Luang Police Station received a report of a fatal shooting involving a young man in Khlong Sam East Soi 9/4, Moo 9, Khlong Sam subdistrict, Khlong Luang district, Pathum Thani province.

Police officers, including Police Colonel Kriangsak Mitprasert, Deputy Superintendent Kawinwet Wiriyasiripakdi, and several other officials, swiftly arrived at the scene alongside forensic specialists from Thammasat University Hospital and Ruamkatanyu Foundation personnel.

They discovered the body of a 17 year old male from Soi Rangsit-Nakhon Nayok 45, Prachathipat subdistrict, Thanyaburi district, Pathum Thani province. The victim had been shot multiple times—in the upper arm, left side, and left chest. The street was stained with blood, and eight spent bullet casings, one bullet head, and one bullet were recovered from the scene.

A 16 year old friend of the deceased who was driving a blue Honda Lead motorcycle without a licence plate, recounted the events. The victim had contacted a seller on Facebook to purchase a watch.

The deceased and his 16 year old friend, along with three other friends, travelled on two motorcycles to meet the seller at the entrance of Khlong Sam Soi. Upon arrival, they met a bronze car with three occupants. One of the men in the car directed them to enter the alley.

Though initially hesitant, the victim insisted on proceeding to obtain the watch. Upon reaching the designated spot, a man in a red shirt emerged from the forest and opened fire, killing the 17 year old instantly. The assailants then fled the scene in their vehicle.

Deceased’s stepfather

The victim’s stepfather, 35 year old Chaiwat Nongpong revealed that the deceased had run away from his mother in Nakhon Sawan at midnight. Chaiwat last spoke to the deceased around 7pm and was unaware of how the teenager had ended up at the crime scene. The deceased had recently asked for 300 baht and was last known to be with friends. Chaiwat later received the devastating news of his death.

Police Colonel Kriangsak Mitprasert stated that the initial police report indicated a shooting in Khlong Sam Soi on 9/4. Upon arrival, officers found the victim shot multiple times, with his friends waiting for the police.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had arranged to meet the sellers of the watch via Facebook. The suspects lured the victim and his friends into the alley before ambushing and shooting him. The suspects then drove towards the end of the alley and escaped.

Police have launched an investigation, instructing the investigation team to pursue the suspects by tracking CCTV footage along their escape route. All of the deceased’s friends who were present have been taken to the police station for further questioning.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue their efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice, reported KhaoSod.
