Man surrenders after BB gun road rage incident in Nonthaburi
A 44 year old man turned himself in after firing a BB gun at another driver in response to a close encounter on the road. The incident, captured on CCTV, led to his swift surrender to the police.
The incident unfolded yesterday at 6pm when Anan Worasart, chief of Bang Khen Police Station, along with his deputies, received Puridet (surname withheld), who surrendered with a BB gun and a black Toyota Altis with a red registration plate.
Earlier at 1.30am, 43 year old Chananwat (surname withheld), was driving a white Toyota Fortuner with a red registration plate in Nonthaburi province. He was heading towards Kaset intersection on Phahonyothin Road when a black car, whose model was unknown at the time, closely followed him.
The driver of the black car fired three shots at the left rear window of Chanawat’s vehicle before speeding away, making a left turn to escape under the Kaset intersection bridge onto Phahonyothin Road outwards. The shots left three bullet holes in the car, prompting Chanawat to report the incident to the police.
Following the report, investigators reviewed CCTV footage, confirming that the car involved was a black Toyota Altis with a red registration plate. The vehicle was tracked down to Soi Phahonyothin 40, where police eventually detained the suspect, later identified as Puridet.
During questioning, Puridet admitted that he was driving home along Phahonyothin Road near Bang Bua when Chanawat’s vehicle came too close, leading to a heated moment, reported KhaoSod.
In his anger, he followed the Fortuner and fired six shots with his BB gun loaded with metal pellets, unaware of whether any hit the target. After learning that a complaint had been filed, he decided to surrender, bringing the BB gun used in the incident as evidence.
