Phuket aims for noodle world record at mega fest

Culinary showdown sparks excitement as locals and chefs unite for world record-breaking noodle feast

Phuket is turning up the heat this June as it launches a mouth-watering attempt to make culinary history, by setting a Guinness World Record with its beloved Phuket Hokkien Noodles.

The sizzling spectacle will headline the Phuket Peranakan Festival 2025, taking place from June 20 to 22. Over 200 chefs, restaurants and community groups will team up to showcase the iconic local dish in a bold bid to land it a spot in the Guinness World Records.

The ambitious noodle feat was officially unveiled on Tuesday, May 6, at a press conference held at the Phuket Merlin Hotel.

Anchalee Vanich Thepbutr, Advisor to the Peranakan Association of Thailand, revealed that the event aims to propel Phuket’s cultural legacy onto the global stage.

“The festival’s theme, Island of Artistic, is about celebrating the unique blend of heritage, food, and performance art that defines our region.”

Anchalee also noted the event will set the tone for the Thailand Biennale Phuket 2025, scheduled for later this year.

One of the festival’s most colourful highlights will be the expanded Carnival Parade, featuring more than 20 dazzling processions and 2,000 performers from Peranakan communities across Thailand and the Malay Peninsula.

The updated route will now pass through the Shell Roundabout, also known as the Phuket Tin Mining Monument, and end at the scenic Saphan Hin Cape.

Organisers estimate the parade will draw over 15,000 spectators, with the three-day festival expected to generate more than 400 million baht in tourism revenue, reported The Phuket News.
