Thai police break major drug operation in Ayutthaya
Suspect linked to wider trafficking ring as police trace money trail and network

Thai police successfully dismantled a major drug storage operation in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province, seizing over 8.7 million methamphetamine pills and 720 kilogrammes of crystal meth. The arrest occurred yesterday, May 7, with the suspect allegedly earning 100,000 baht per shipment.
Police General Prachuap Wongsuk, Deputy Police Chief, along with key officials from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, led an operation involving narcotics investigation units from the Metropolitan Police and Provincial Police Region 1. They raided a two-storey house in Bang Sai district, which was being used to store drugs.
Inside, they discovered 40 sacks containing approximately 8,732,000 methamphetamine pills and 18 sacks with a total weight of 720 kilogrammes of crystal meth. The suspect, 32 year old Charin or Back from Phichit province, was apprehended.
Charin admitted to being a drug caretaker, tasked with distributing the methamphetamine at various locations as instructed by his superiors. He revealed that each drug shipment arrived in a covered pickup truck at around 10pm and was typically distributed within a day.
However, the current batch faced issues, having been only partially distributed. He confessed to receiving 100,000 baht (US$3,055) for each of the three shipments he managed and admitted to consuming 20 methamphetamine pills daily.

Pol. Gen. Prachuap stated that the investigation began with smaller drug dealers and eventually led to the discovery of this major operation, which used a trailer truck for transportation. The drugs were stored in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya to await further distribution, reported KhaoSod.
Police maintained surveillance on the suspect before launching the early morning raid. Efforts are ongoing to trace the drug owners, the involved pickup truck, and other members of the drug network for legal proceedings.
In similar news, police in Chokchai district arrested a 29 year old man for managing a daily rental room that served as a hub for selling e-cigarettes and illegal drugs, such as ketamine pods and methamphetamine.
Police uncovered financial records showing transactions amounting to 1 million baht (approximately US$29,985) over a six-month period. The suspect, Wanakaset “Film” Wattanakaset, is now facing four major criminal charges.
