Thai teen caught smuggling knives into 4Kings (Part 2) movie screening
A cinema visit in the Sattahip district, Chon Buri province, took a grim turn when a Thai teenager was apprehended while attempting to smuggle a collection of knives into the screening of 4Kings (Part 2). This film is known for its depiction of violence among vocational school students in Thailand.
The 17 year old man was intercepted at the Big C department store’s movie theatre entrance in Sattahip. It was the evening of December 4 when the local police were alerted by the cinema’s security staff about a teenager carrying suspicious items into the movie theatre.
On further inspection, the police discovered a 6-centimetre long chisel, a metal rod with a sharp tip measuring 23 centimetres, a folding knife, and a box cutter in the teenager’s shoulder bag. The suspect, whose identity was not disclosed due to his age, confessed that the weapons were his and were meant for self-defence.
The young man explained that he had previous confrontations with other teenagers in the Sattahip area. He came to the cinema armed with these weapons fearing an attack from his rivals who might seek revenge.
Local police have charged the teenager with carrying weapons in public. Following his arrest, he was taken into custody, and his parents were informed about the incident, reported Pattaya News.
4Kings (Part 2) is part of a movie franchise that portrays gang violence among Thai vocational school students. The plot revolves around intense and at times, deadly fights among students. This culture of violence, which dates back to the 1990s, continues to persist, with students often engaging in fights with those from different schools.
A recent incident resulting from this contentious culture occurred last month.
