Khon Kaen’s Major Cineplex under police inspection due to 4 Kings II
Khon Kaen‘s Major Cineplex Movie Theater was subjected to an official inspection by Mueang Khon Kaen police officers on November 30 at 4.30pm.
The inspection was carried out in anticipation of potential conflicts that could be sparked between college students due to the screening of the film 4 Kings II.
The police officers took it upon themselves to inform the theatre manager of preventive measures against any hazardous situations that could arise after viewing the movie. They also took the opportunity to provide guidance and advice to the youths and spectators who attended the movie screening.
In the film 4 Kings II, violent scenes are depicted involving Thai technical college students utilising weapons to engage in altercations with rival groups. This created a sense of apprehension and concern, as the prequel 4 Kings had previously incited several instances of physical fights among technical college students post-screening in 2021.
The chief of Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station, Police Colonel Preecha Kengsarikit, expressed openly that there is a potential risk of teenagers getting overly excited and subsequently causing disturbances, or worse, mimicking the violent acts seen in the movie. As a result, patrol officers were instructed to carry out similar inspections in two other movie theaters within Mueang Khon Kaen, reported Pattaya News.
Pol. Col. Preecha made a stern warning to the young spectators, advising them to exercise caution and avoid emulating the violent scenes from the movie. He emphasised the potential harm it would bring not only to the individuals involved but also to their families.
Pol. Col. Preecha made it clear that if these teenagers were found engaging in unlawful acts, they would be held accountable by the police.
The ripple effect of this movie screening was felt in Bangkok as well, where local police officers were deployed to maintain security outside the malls where 4 Kings II was being screened.
